For Grandpa's last full day, we headed down to Gulfport to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.  It was smaller than I was expecting, but the kids had a great time despite the 3 school groups that were there.  As a side note, It's good to go close to the lunch hour because when the groups go out to eat, you have the whole place to yourselves!

Tanner hit his head inside the airplane, so what did I do?  I took a picture, then I went to comfort him.  I know...I am awesome.
Tanner couldn't get enough of the shrimp boating area because they had all sorts of construction stuff including a crane.
Making me some Mexican food.  Yum.

This was the kids' favorite area.  They loved playing cashier and scanning the groceries.  They had even convinced Grandpa to pull out a credit card to pay for it all!

Thanks for coming to visit Grandpa!  We had a great time!

The Zoo

One of our stops with Grandpa was the local zoo.  When we first moved here, the cost was .$50 for kids and $1 for adults.  They've upped that a bit since they've done some major renovations.  It's still small for a zoo, but it's a great place to spend an hour or so.

Here's Tanner on the other side of the fence just moments after I read him the sign that said "stay on this side of the fence".

The gator was the last animal we saw and by that time the kids were whining, so I told them gators love to eat whiny children.  Tanner really thought I was going to feed him to the gators.  I have a lot of these "mom of the year" moments.

No trip to the zoo is complete without a ride on the train.

The kids thought the gopher exhibit was fun, with the tunnels and peek holes.

Red Bluff

On Saturday we hopped in the car to show Grandpa one of the wonders of southern Mississippi, Red Bluff. It's nothing but a big dirt hole, but it's a pretty cool dirt hole.

Tanner enjoyed throwing rocks off the cliff (while I held his hand, cutting off his blood circulation so he wouldn't topple over the edge).

Nothing like some eroded pavement to get your blood pumping, hoping the road won't suddenly give way and down you go!

Find the lizard!

Lana and Tanner fighting over who got to stand on the stump to take a picture. Glad it wasn't close to the edge.

Fun with Grandpa Jerry!

After a slight flight delay Grandpa Jerry arrived to much anticipation from Lana and Tanner! Lana had school on Friday and we had a showing appointment, so we headed off to Dirt Cheap to see what we could find.

We found these fun cardboard play houses for $4. A fun (yet surprisingly complicated) task for Grandpa.

Thanks for helping Grandpa!
