BYU vs. UCONN

Paul took Tanner to the BYU vs UCONN game.  Since Paul was working up in CT that Friday, he took Tanner with him to work.  Tanner then got to spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa while they waited for Paul to be done.

Me, Lana and Porter getting dinner at Applebees.

At the game.

I think a good time was had by all!  Paul even got to see some old friends.

Birthday celebration at Six Flags

It was our friend Chad's birthday and he wanted to go to Six Flags, so we all packed up and headed over for the day.  Above is our caravan of strollers.

Waiting for the sea lion show to start.

Our group. Paul & Porter, Adam & Athena, Tanner, Lana Camille and Saylor.  Chad, Oliver and Kara are on the row in front of us.

I had pics of us on the safari ride, but not sure where they went.

Porter at the YMCA

Normally Porter goes to kids watch while the big kids go to swim lessons but he had a runny nose so he came along.

His favorite part was hiding in the lockers and then opening the doors and slamming them shut.

Hard to get angry at this handsome little guy.

Summer fun with friends

Just one of the many BBQ's we've had with friends over the summer.  We've got a really great group out here!

The grown ups having some laughs.

Picking peaches

We went to go pick peaches with a group of friends.  So neat, we've never been peach picking before!

Porter wanted to drag the bucket of peaches everywhere, but they were to heavy for his bitty arms.

It was a gorgeous day for picking peaches.  Paul made a peach cobbler and I made him some Habanero Peach Jam that he loved.  It sounds gross, but it's actually pretty good.  It tastes just like peach jam (you can't actually taste the habanero pepper), but you get a little bit of heat as after taste.

Cute Random Summer Pics

Look at how dark Tanner is from all the swimming we've been doing!

Burnt pecans and a paranoid squirrel

Paul was attempting to make candied pecans, but burnt the first batch so he set it out on the deck so it wouldn't stink up the house.  Lo and behold here comes a squirrel.

He was a paranoid little guy.  He'd slowly make his way over to the plate and eat a nut.  Then he'd turn around and get into the above pictured position and wait there as though watching for other animals who want to come share his plate of burnt pecans.

No other animals ended up showing, but the kids and I enjoyed watching his antics for a while.

Manhattan Temple & Shake Shack

I had the opportunity to go to the temple with some friends from our ward while Paul kindly stayed home and watched the kids.  It's surreal to see a temple in Manhattan, surrounded by all the people, traffic and noise.  But once you step inside it's just as familiar as all the other temples I've been inside.

A few notes to remember.  It's expensive.  You pay tolls to drive into the city and you pay to park.  The bigger your car, the more you pay.  If you go early Saturday morning, the parking garage on the other side of the temple will validate you parking and it's only $10 or $15 dollars.  Otherwise it's $50.  They do have clothing rental there so you don't have to haul your stuff if you decide to ride public transportation.

And a plus to the temple?  Shake Shack is only a 15 min walk away.  Truly the best burger I've had.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Six Flags with Karen & Daniel

We were so happy to have Karen and Daniel come visit us for a few days this summer!  One morning we took the kids to Six Flags.  It wasn't too bad weather wise, and other than a few fussy moments Porter was great even when we had to wait for the big kids to ride rides.

Selfies while waiting.

I just love those boys.

Good-bye Paci

We said good-bye to Porter's paci.  I think it was more me having a hard time letting go.  I took it away and he fussed a little at nap time for a few days but never had a full out melt down over the loss of it.  He asked for it a little bit, but after a week it was completely forgotten!

Before pics - Upstairs

The green stairs

The green hallway

Master bedroom.  We were trying to keep all of our stuff in the middle of the rooms so the painters could paint while we were out of town.

Master bathroom

Porter's hot pink room.  The thing glowed.

The kids bathroom.  I think someone was in the bathroom and I didn't get a picture of the tub/toilet area.

Tanner's room.  His was the only room we didn't touch.  We kept his carpet and he liked the paint color.

Lana's room.  She kept her carpet as well, but asked for a pinkish-purplish color for her walls.
