Easter-ish

IMG_1884

I was only feeling a little Easter-ish this year.  I guess I was struggling to balance out Jesus and the Easter Bunny.  Especially now that Lana and Tanner are older.  So no big baskets this year but enough candy for everyone to be on a sugar high for a week.

And Porter discovered that he is a chocoholic.  The child can sniff out chocolate and even discovered where we have the “hidden stash”.  Which then had to be moved to a new hiding place where little baby hands can’t get to it.

The above pics are the Primary egg hunt.  It was a beautiful day for it!  And the property at the back of the church was perfect for hiding eggs.

Then on the day of our hunt, it was cold and windy.  Yet the kids still wanted to do it outside.

I lasted all of 2 pictures and I was done.

The kids loved having Grandpa Jerry here for spring break!  It gave us an excuse to get out of the house and do things we hadn’t done before!  Thanks Grandpa for coming!

This was Tuesday afternoon when the big kids came home from school.  I thought it a very telling picture.  A messy kitchen but happy kids eating their afternoon snack.

The kids happy to get their folders from Grandpa Jerry!

And Porter, finally coloring on something other than my walls!  Smile

The Insectorium

Quite frankly this place creeped and grossed me out, but the kids loved it.  I am also not putting the pictures of the gigantic tarantulas they had here on the blog, so you’re welcome…

Porter was actually pretty good through the whole thing until right up to the end when he got a bit fussy since it was nap time.

IMG_1841

This was the part where they brought out a few live bugs for everyone to touch.  Tanner was all about touching everything.  The roach, the millipede, the tarantula and I forget what else.  It was all gross.

The guy doing the presentation was pretty funny too.  My favorite part was when he pretended that the millipede was a mustache.

Visiting Lady Liberty

IMG_1862

So these pictures are all in random order since some of them came from mine and others came from Grandpa Jerry so I apologize in advance.

IMG_1865

Funny story behind this pic, I bent down to take their picture so I could get a better angle and both Lana and Tanner bent down at the same time. Haha!  Love that NY skyline too.

Porter’s random wacky facial pic.

IMG_1874

This was toward the end of our walk around the island.  Lana was ready to be done.  In her defense, it was cold and windy.  Luckily the ferry boat ride was warm.

There’s one thing crossed of my bucket list while we’re here in New Jersey!

Jenkinson’s Aquarium

This is just one of those small aquariums (the kind that charge an arm and a leg during the peak season), but it’s a nice thing to go see and walk through on a rainy or cold day.

It’s clean and has some really great animals to see.  If you time it right you can see them feed the penguins, sharks and seals.

We made it in time to see the seal feeding.  Porter loved seeing all the fish swimming around and was absolutely fascinated with the seals.

I don’t know what happened to my nice warm weather, but it was so cold that day!  My fingers were cold pushing the stroller.

P.s., thanks for taking all the pictures that day Grandpa Jerry!
